The Judges on Your Ballot
Judicial races are easy to miss on your ballot, but they matter- these are the judges who decide real cases in your community for years to come. This week, meet Anne Joynt and Craig Bucki, both running for NYS Supreme Court in the 8th Judicial District, which includes Niagara County. Catch Anne at her birthday celebration next Wednesday, and Craig at his Niagara Falls fundraiser next Thursday. And mark your calendar: early voting starts Saturday, October 24.
Candidate Spotlight
Anne Joynt, NYS Supreme Court, 8th Judicial District

Anne is a 1998 graduate of Medina High School who's spent the last two decades as a trial attorney at Lipsitz, Ponterio & Comerford, representing injured workers, children exposed to lead paint, and other clients who don't often get heard. She got her start in law school working on Judge Paula Feroleto's Supreme Court campaign- Feroleto is retiring this year, and Anne is running for the seat of the mentor who first showed her the job. If elected, she'd be the first Medina High School graduate, and the first woman from Orleans County, to serve on the State Supreme Court.
Craig Bucki, NYS Supreme Court, 8th Judicial District

Craig is a partner at Phillips Lytle in Buffalo, where he co-chairs the firm's Appellate Practice Team and has argued before the New York Court of Appeals and all four Appellate Division departments. His practice centers on litigation involving state and municipal government, and he's represented political candidates in election law disputes and advised governments on redistricting. He and Anne Joynt are running together on the Democratic and Working Families lines for two of the four Supreme Court seats up this year in the 8th Judicial District.
